"O people of the world! Build ye houses of worship throughout the lands in the name of Him Who is the Lord of all religions. Make them as perfect as is possible in the world of being…"

— Bahá’u’lláh (The Kitáb-i-Aqdas, p. 29)

The Temple, the Body and Soul

people-1.jpg"The doors will be open to all sects -- no differentiation; and by God's help this temple will prove to be to the body of human society what the soul is to the body of man." ~'Abdu'l-Bahá, Divine Philosophy, p. 13

"Verily, your Lord the Merciful loveth to see whosoever is in the world as one soul and one temple (body); therefore avail yourselves of the bounty of God and His mercy in these days the like of which the eye of creation never saw." ~Bahá'u'lláh, Compilations, Baha'i Scriptures, p. 110

The metaphor of the body and soul as a temple is a recurring theme weaved into the vast framework of stories in all the world's religions.

What does this mean for the restoration of the Mother Temple and the work of the Kingdom Project? As Bahá'ís, ‘Abdu'l-Bahá tells us to "...at all times refresh and restore" ourselves, and with the "breaths of the Holy Spirit revive and renew" ourselves "from moment to moment." The restoration and renewal of our beloved Temple is a reflection of the renewal of learning and understanding that must take place within each of us and within the soul of our community as a whole. Each and every moment, the needs of the world change drastically. Our understanding and capacities as Bahá'ís and as a community must renew, refresh and restore to continually meet those needs as we endeavor on a new Five Year Plan.

And so the work continues - on our inner being, our outer being, the body and soul of society - and the Mother Temple, of course!
