"O people of the world! Build ye houses of worship throughout the lands in the name of Him Who is the Lord of all religions. Make them as perfect as is possible in the world of being…"

— Bahá’u’lláh (The Kitáb-i-Aqdas, p. 29)

Children Take the Lead

coins-floor3Imagination and individual initiative can go a long way with children, and the State College, Pennsylvania Baha'i community is no exception to this rule. When community members decided to include the youngest members of the community in their Kingdom Project fundraising efforts, the result was a three year pledge project in which the children not only carried out their goals, but succeeded in surpassing them.

Children who attended feast and other holy day celebrations throughout the three years continued to fill up an empty water barrel with loose change and allowances. Helga Stokes, a State College community member happily recalls, "The collection was mostly coins and became quite heavy." So heavy, in fact, that several members of the community initiated a "coin counting session" when they barrel was full. The result was a collection of parents and children joyfully counting the funds that they had raised together-a privilege so priceless.
