With this summer's Temple restoration projects nearing completion, the beloved Mother Temple of the West now stands more glorious than ever, in her original luminous white beauty, as if beckoning all of mankind to God's Eternal Kingdom.
Beginning at the base, restoration workers worked diligently all summer long to thoroughly clean the Temple's exterior, while also applying a sealer to the concrete for preservation and protection. Along with the exterior cleaning of the Mashriq'l-Adhkár (the Dawning Place of the praise of God), new monumental staircases were successfully installed in three of its nine bays. All nine pylon caps have been replaced above each Temple pillar and terrace cladding around the concrete foundation of the building has begun. Re-roofing has also started at the second and third story levels of the Temple, and is now 80% complete, following the removal of the twenty-three year old original roofing materials.
The ongoing Temple restoration work serves as a reminder that through a spirit of love, unity and perseverance, the loved ones of Bahá'u'lláh are able to attain excellence in all things. The projected completion date for the restoration work is 2010, which includes completion of the new Visitors Center. Due to the increased cost of the Visitors Center, the National Assembly invites the friends to continue contributions and pledges to the Kingdom Project.
