Five new titles are due to be released in May 2006 from Bahá’í Publishing, the trade paper imprint of the U.S. Bahá’í Publishing Trust supported by the Kingdom Project. We are delighted to announce the new titles to be released:
- Lights of the Spirit: Historical Portraits of Black Bahá’ís in North America, 1898-2000, edited by Gwendolyn Etter-Lewis and Richard Thomas. A ground-breaking collection of accounts of the lives of African-American Bahá’ís and their contributions towards building a new society.
- The Power of Prayer: Make a Joyful Noise, by Pamela Brode. What is prayer? Does prayer really work? How do we know when our prayers are answered? Compelling stories of courage from those who conquered difficult life situations through prayer.
- The Heroic Female Spirit: A Collection of Tales, by Phyllis K. Peterson. In the tradition of Joseph Campbell with one difference: the heroes are women! Employing the moral virtues found in every religion, the heroes in each tale strive to reshape the world around them while encouraging women to see their capacity to create change.
- The Journey of the Soul: Life, Death and Immortality, introduction by John S. Hatcher, compiled by Terrill G. Hayes, Betty J. Fisher, Richard A. Hill, Terry J. Cassiday. Explains the purpose of material and spiritual existence and encourages us to live in a way that allows us to recognize the spiritual realities of this world and the next.
- The Divine Art of Living: Selections from the Writings of Bahá’u’lláh, The Báb, and ‘Abdu’l-Bahá, compiled by Mabel Hyde Paine, revised by Anne Marie Scheffer. Thematically arranged, The Divine Art of Living provides an illuminating description of spiritual life. It addresses such topics as learning how to know, love and trust God; recognizing the purpose of this life; the importance of daily prayer and meditation; and service to mankind.
