"O people of the world! Build ye houses of worship throughout the lands in the name of Him Who is the Lord of all religions. Make them as perfect as is possible in the world of being…"

— Bahá’u’lláh (The Kitáb-i-Aqdas, p. 29)

Children are a Model for the Future PDF Print E-mail

HOW_Model_students
The desire to raise awareness about our Mother Temple can produce a positively spiritual work of art, as seen in the talents of the 6-8 year-old children at Martha Root Bahá’í School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In an effort to raise funds for the Kingdom Project, these young Bahá’ís constructed an art project and assisted with a fundraising dinner for their community.

While studying the Core Curriculum Level 1, the children built a model House of Worship out of clothespins and pictures with the help of adults. They also discussed the lives of early Bahá’ís and wrote a thank-you letter in their memory, explaining how these early believers’ “great sacrifices have really paid off.”

Later, the East Pittsburgh community enjoyed dinner with the help of these youngsters – and they were blessed to have the opportunity to contribute to the Kingdom Project at the same time!

The handmade model House of Worship will circulate the Pittsburgh area, being presented at feasts to educate other communities about the Kingdom Project.

A most sincere message of thanks to these devoted young servants for discovering new and innovative ways of encouraging the friends and spreading the message of Bahá’u’lláh. As ‘Abdu’l-Bahá said, “Art is worship.” It really is!

Kool Aid for the Kingdom PDF Print E-mail
Kool_Aid_Kingdom_mainA warm day in Texas and the urgent need for restoration on the Mother Temple of the West equals a great recipe for entrepreneurial spirit and generosity, as five-year-old Donovan Rothman sees it. After his mother told him about the necessity for contributions to renovate the Temple’s garden fountains, young Donovan lent a hand – to pour!

With the help of his great-grandparents, Donovan organized a Kool Aid stand on a forest road in front of his Texas home. The piney woods of east Texas brought a timely warm spell and encouraged repeat customers over the two days of Donovan’s fundraising activities.
In an act of generosity just as refreshing as the Kool Aid he served, Donovan asked that his earnings of dollars and coins be sent to the Kingdom Project to make the new garden fountains “pretty for when people come to see the Temple.”

Donovan’s story is proof that Bahá’ís of any age can understand the significance of the House of Worship and that their combined understanding and generous spirit can be turned into action. ‘Abdu’l-Bahá said that the Temple “will be a model for the coming centuries, and will hold the station of the mother.” What better way to honor and support the mother than through the help of children? Thank you, Donovan. The Mother Temple’s newly renovated fountains are glittering with your act of service.

Kingdom Project Winter Restoration PDF Print E-mail

night.jpgThe Master once expressed His hopes "that all the beloved of God, collectively, in the continent of America, men and women, will strive night and day until the Mashriqu'l-Adhkár be erected in the utmost solidity and beauty." With the Temple restoration now a task at hand for American believers, ‘Abdu'l-Bahá's wish once again continues to inspire and gently guide its work.
